PR and training support for the Highlights Contemporary Craft Tour

Since 2007, Sally has worked with the Highlights Rural Touring Scheme team on publicity for the annual Contemporary Craft Tour. This work has included planning the publicity, liaising with the artists, drafting and issuing press releases and working with the volunteer promoters during their pre-Tour training day. Sally also supported drafting and production of the detailed report on the 2009 Tour.

"Sally's contribution to our Promoters' Training Day for the Highlights Contemporary Craft Tour was invaluable and proved a huge support to our promoters. Her easy and accessible manner encouraged brainstorming and clearly outlined the mutual responsibilities between Highlights and the promoters in marketing the exhibition as well as practicalities like drafting a press release timings, images, opportunities and contacts.

Sally was also extremely efficient in the marketing of the craft exhibition, working with me to draft press releases at the most appropriate time, pitched to local and national press. The subsequent press coverage included
radio interviews and several substantial editorials with full-colour photographs.

Sally has proved herself an invaluable member of our marketing team."

Karen Babayan, Highlights Rural Touring Scheme

Sally says: "Highlights brings top quality performance and craft to village halls across the north of England. The investment in the Contemporary Craft Tour builds local volunteers' skills as well as creating amazing exhibitions and events. Communicating the quality of the work to local media is an ongoing challenge but the combination of PR work at the centre and support for the local promoters has achieved good coverage."
